Nepal Tours and Travels offers the Mt. Manaslu Expedition with a partnership with Nepal's professional, licensed expedition group, an adventure to the eighth highest mountain in the world, standing at 8,163 meters. Located about forty miles east of Annapurna, Mt. Manaslu is the highest peak of the Gorkha massif. The mountain's long ridges and valley glaciers provide feasible approaches from all directions, culminating in a peak that towers steeply above its surroundings, making it a dominant feature visible from afar.
In terms of technicality, Mt. Manaslu is considered one of the most dangerous mountains in the world and is often called the "Killer Mountain." This expedition can serve as a training ground for those preparing for the Mt. Everest expedition. The name Manaslu is derived from the Sanskrit word "Manasa," which can be roughly translated as "Mountain of Spirit." The first ascent was made by a Japanese expedition team in 1954, and it has since been regarded as the "Japanese Mountain."
The Manaslu Expedition begins with a drive from Kathmandu to Arughat, a village in the Gorkha district. The trek follows the Manaslu round trek, surrounded by the Himalayas. After walking for one hour, we reach the Larkya Glacier. From there, it takes another three hours to reach Camp 1. The journey to Camp 2, which takes nearly six hours, is covered with heavy icefalls. From Camp 2 to Camp 3, it takes another 3-4 hours. Camp 3, surrounded by beautiful peaks, is very cold and windy. The climb from Camp 3 to Camp 4, located in the area of the upper snow slope and short ice bulges, takes approximately four to five hours. The final ascent to the summit from Camp 4 takes about 7-8 hours.
From the summit of Mt. Manaslu, climbers can enjoy stunning views of the surrounding peaks. After reaching the summit, the descent is relatively easier and faster compared to the climb.
Join us for this incredible expedition and experience the challenge and beauty of Mt. Manaslu.
